We have just installed a new flat roof with new rubber based topping. We had planned to kingspan the underside and then fix a suspended plasterboard ceiling. Building inspector says this won't be allowed due to lack of ventilation leading to condensation problems.

Can anyone suggest a possible fix??

Retro fitting ventilation holes to our nice new roof would be almost impossible. Underside of roof has lots of small 'voids' made by rafters and 'nuggets' to provide bracing, so there is not one continuous void to ventilate.

I know people don't like spray foam but in this instance would it be the only solution?? Would it pass the ventilation requirement??

Any help would be greatfully appreciated

The solution is to completely fill the roof void with insualtion, so that there are no air pockets and then fit a vapour check layer to the underside of the joists

Then there is no risk of condensation
