Flexible hose on a hob .

Can this be classed as NCS as long as there is no damage/stress to hose or is it strictly AR regardless of condition?

used to be at risk now its ncs as long as u say no damage etc

how about there's absolueltly nothing wrong with it if the manufacturers instructions permits it's use.

well said lcgs, a simple thing like this bothers me, back to basics for some i'm afraid, why dont we start with MI's for everything,

why would it be at risk? its not a flued appliance or anything, i agree fixed pipe but like said its a MI first then personal judgement. Ive never read anywhere that this appliance must not be supplied by a cooker hose. May be just me but......?

how many m.i. for hobs are present in houses? none! i thnk as long as you inspect behind an oven, make a note thats its ncs hose, no damage but recommend replacement thats covered you.

Exactly :!:

As long as the hose is for the correct type of gas, IE natural gas hose for natural gas, LPG hose for LPG, wrong type and personally I'd AR even if the condition was good

We had exactly this conversation at work a couple of weeks ago, we got a job to re-pipe a hob because another RGI had AR'd it, my Engineer couldn't see why it needed to be rigid pipe, we searched unsafe procedure BS's etc but could not find a direct reference to flexibles - however from my apprentice days only moveable appliances could be connected with a flex i.e freestanding or slot in cooker as a hob is fixed into the work-top it is a fixed appliance and should be in rigid pipe
some may call this an overkill, but it does help you to sleep well at night ;)

If the MI say you can use a flexi, then you can, provided that the flexi is unlikely to come into contact with a hot surface... 70c or more i believe... So I would interpret this as the flexi would not be allowed if there was an oven below.

God knows why anyone would want to use a flexi on a hob though...

As has already been said MI's are all well and good but the Custard can never find them when you need 'em just like LFE's that state no or little ventilation required in MI but 2 years later custard can't find them so you end up banging in 100cm/2 to their annoyance

Why would you AR an LPG hose used on natural gas?? ;)

I'm sure that in the unsafe situations book issued when Gas safe took over it states that even materials used for the safe carrying of gas used in the wrong situation is still AR.
This does specifically mention plastic pipe exposed to U.V light although a cooker hose on a hob could be interpreted in the same light.
Just one of those I suppose?
