Hi All
I have fitted a new float valve in my cistern as the old was was over filling. However i am having trouble getting the rubber washer on the bottom of the float valve shaft to seat correctly (when i tighten both the feed and float nut i get a water leak).
When i installed the valve i noticed that the hole in the bottom of the cistern where the float shaft sits, there was a piece of 'neutral' electrical sleeving curled in a circular shape around the edge of the hole, therefore making the hole slightly smaller (a home made bodged DIY fix by the last owner no doubt).
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to make this hole water tight. I have installed the float as per the instructions and have been reluctant to over tighten any nuts as i dont want to crack/shread the plastic thread shaft.
Thanks
Alex
