Hi,

I've noticed on new floor boards stocked in B & Q, Wickes etc have two cuts the whole length of the board (like tramlines) on what would be the back of the board. Any idea what the idea of this is? I was going to use boards to make a door but can't due to these lines. :(

cheers

Charlie

sorry i dont know what the lines are for,bit why dont you go to a timber merchants, they will be able to give the beat advice.

the lines in the back of any wood are to reduce the risk of movement and allow a bit of wood that would otherwise be cupped and possibly split if you pin down to relax a bit

and to make sure if you use adhesive to fully bond the floor a larger area has adhesive on it.
