Hi all,
This is really two questions in one!
Background info:
I am preparing the structurally sound but uneven concrete floor in my lean-to conservatory for self-adhesive vinyl floor tiles and so I'll be using self-levelling compound.
The floor was previously covered with vinyl on paper.
I've taken up the old vinyl and scraped off all the paper.
All that is left now is large patches of an extremely thin layer of glue in places, which is water-soluble, as I discovered by spitting on it and rubbing vigorously with my finger.
Question 1:
Can I put the self-levelling compound down now or should I remove the glue as well, so as to get back to bare concrete?
Question 2:
Can I put the floor tiles directly onto the levelled surface or should I put a paper layer down first?
Many thanks in advance for your help.
