Floor protection for sandstone hearth

Hi all, need to mist coat and paint ceiling and chimney breast and have had a new light grey sandstone hearth fitted that I really want to fully protect it so no paint gets on it. Seen the adhesive floor protector rolls and was wondering if this is the best option? Any and all advice and help is greatly appreciated.

Use any old sheets, blankets or clothes.
It kind of begs the question why are you doing things backwards?

Use a plastic backed dust sheet (from Screwfix et al) that will mitigate Murphy's Law.
