Flush fitting to pendant ....

Well, I can't be 100% sure that it's a switched live without being there and testing etc, but from the information you've given it definitely sounds like it...

Just connected the light switch up, red to L black to L1, and when switched the blue gets a voltage down it.
 
Looks good then - remove the bit of blue wire, and shove a bit of red or brown electrical tape round the black wire to indicate it's a switched live, and you should be sorted...
