ford fiesta steering

hi... i have a ford fiesta titanium and am having a problem with the steering. when i take a left or right hand bend there is a slight grateing noise coming from the steering wheel. the faster i am travelling the faster the noise is.my wife drove over a pothole in the road about a week ago could this have anything to do with it.

Its unlikely for the noise to be coming from the steering wheel itself Mick but it could be sound transferring itself that way.
First thing I'd do is to take off the pot holed wheel and see if there's any sign of a buckle (very common) and at the same time, spin the hub to see if there's anything obvious catching.

many thanks john....turns out it was a buckled front nearside wheel
