I HAVE A 2005 FOCUS 1.8 TDCI, AND IT TAKES FOREVER FOR THE HEATER TO WARM UP. I TRAVEL APPROX. 4 MILES BEFORE THE ENGINE TEMP GAUGE BEGINS TO MOVE OFF THE BOTTOM. IS THIS NORMAL

I HAVE A 2003 FIESTA TDCI. YES IT IS NORMAL DONT SHOUT!
your engine is a solid block of iron. it takes time for the heat to penetrate this, and then into the coolant, then into the heater circuit! High speeds help to heat it up quicker i find!
I leave the blower off until the engine temp rises - then your not blowing cold air at your hands. having the blower on doesn't make it warm any quicker
