Just after some advice. I know footings are normally 600mm wide for a standard wall with 100mm bricks and cavity.

If the walls on the footings are off centre is this a problem?

It should be central but most extension foundations are way over specified so that doesn't necessarily mean it will be a problem. What I'd be looking at to access whether it's an issue is; the load on the wall, the dimensions of the foundation concrete and the ground conditions. If it's 250mm thick concrete and the wall has a decent load on it I'd be asking them to extend the foundation. If it's 600mm deep trench fill on good ground and not too highly loaded I probably wouldn't be concerned.

The other question of course is if they aren't capable of getting the foundation square and to the correct size it doesn't bode well for the rest of the job?

We have a bco here in Staffs that insists that the foundation masonry sits centrally on the footings. He makes sure that he visits the site before backfilling to have a look see.

On most of the big sites I worked on over the years it was quite rare to have the walls sit central. When they did it was actually harder to work in a deep trench.
