They are solutions to different problems. So one will be more suitable for dealing with certain ground problems than the other, but neither is better than the other.

Had a builder out who said 150mm slab with mesh would be enough for brick and block

That might be better for him.

Did he plan on having a proper raft designed with an edge beam, or just plonking a bit of concrete down at some undetermined random depth and hoping for the best?

Damp prevention detailing is important with any raft, particularly at the wall/ floor junction. Does this builder have any proposals for that?

His words where I park my pickup on 6 inches of concrete for years no probl so 2 skins of brick won't be a issue .
h. he.showed Me a photos of garage base he done , it was shuttering then hardcore, then sand & membrane and then concrete ,..he said I could have kingspan in my base if required ..

Damp arrangements on a raft are awkward.

Technical diagrams often show a stepped arrangement - perfectly doable, but needs shuttering to form.

More importantly what is your ground like and are there trees nearby

Ground is pretty solid

in which case a trench foundation might be easier and the damp arrangement is simple and quite fool proof

why do you want it in brick?

If its cavity construction the wall is at least 250mm thick

Was thinking brick.for security also for a selling point if I sell my house I'm future , ive built quite a few timber summerhouses/garden bars etc but always out of timber , brick laying isn't my thing which is why I got a builder in bit not wanting it done cheap. Wanting it done right,
