Freeware diagnostics

Can anyone recommend a good downloadable freeware diagnostics?

I ain't got no sound, windows xp isn't detecting the hardware.

A diagnostic package may not give any results. It would be better if you could describe the fault, including your hardware etc, in more detail.

Done a bit of 'diagnostics' myself, I got onto the iQon web site and found the audio driver 30Mb!!
downloaded and my PC is singing again
