Hi there
I have a small antique veneered table top that needs to be french polished. The veneer itself is very smooth. In the past, it has been lightly sanded in certain areas, and under strong light, you can see very, very slight dips in the veneer's surface. These dips are very faint, but will show up more when it has a gloss french polish finish.
I was wondering if by repeated french polishing, one can build up enough layers on the veneer to then gently sand back to get a perfectly flat surface finish to this veneer, evening out all the slight dips? Is this possible? If it is, does anyone have any good tips on the procedures needed (ie. over what time period the polish needs to be applied etc).
Any help would be warmly received
Many thanks
David
