Hi

I bought a second hand victorian door 80"x30" but it's depth is about 3/8" greater than the old one.

Does anyone know if the shaped door jambs on the existing original frame would be removable as they look like they are part of the frame? If not could they be timmed in situe? I was thinking of marking and then running a skill saw down the length and finishing with a multi tool?

Any guidance greatly appreciated.

Many thanks
Steve

its not as easy as it sounds
is the frame square or chamfered on the face the saw would run on ??

Big-All - Door Jam flat though rounded at opposite end to that against the door

Foxhole - Wouldn't 2 hinge screws likely meet the join of the widening piece?

Thanks

i personally if i was cutting with a circ saw or router would temporary add timber to the rebate the correct thickness and wide enough to use a fence or guide along the edge to give you support both sides off the blade
its actually not that easy to run a saw near to floor level and vertical up even with 2 bearing surfaces
