Hello

I've got a fungi problem, well not me personally but my floor. Whilst removing a piece of skirting board from a downstairs room I came across a type of fungi growing behind it. My first thoughts were oh my God dry rot but have managed to calm myself down slightly and think that it may be wet rot. Has anyone had experience with indentifying fungi, if so would you like to identify mine? To put you in the picture the skirting board started to crumble at the bottom and the fungi looks like a fern or plant roots white in colour and flat to the wall. That's all the info I can give I'm afraid but I do have a photo I can e-mail.

Thanks

Andrew

There are two types of fungal decay, wet rot & dry rot and both result from timber getting too damp.

Wet rots wood go dark brown with cracks along the grain of the wood.Dry rots show an off-white which makes the wood crumble. You should removed the skirting boards.

Without looking at it,you could have rising damp which causes by broken dpc which can be treated. Also check the soil has not by-pass the dpc on the outside walls and look for dampness.

See this and have a look at the picture to help you to identify what you might have
