Hiya, I have a socket with just a switch on it and a fuse high up the wall in my hall, I think it used to be for the doorbell. Can I replace this with a single socket for an air freshener please?

Here you go, thanks. Ignore the walls I am mid decorating.

Does that Switched Fused connection unit Feed the Socket? If so plugging your fresh air into it should be fine.

That’s all I have in the hall, just one white box with a switch and a fuse, can I remove this and put a single socket in its place?

Probably on a 6amp lighting circuit - but won't do any harm plugging an air freshener into it.

Don't let anyone start plugging heaters or portable welders into it.

There is an outgoing cable as well as an incoming cable.

If you are certain the switched fused connection unit doesn't serve anything, only connect the incoming cable to the socket. Tape up all three ends of the outgoing cable, and safely tuck them away in the back of the box, making sure they are not touching any live terminals. you may need that cable one day.

Does anything stop working, if leave the switch turned off? Have a thorough check around, before deciding to make alternative use of it..

Hi, it’s switched off and no fuse in it for a few years now, pretty sure it was for a door hall or alarm once.
