Hello

I have recently purchased a property and found it to have an alarm system already installed.

There is a grey metal box which says Galaxy FX050. It has a wire leading to the telephone socket, another to the main fuse box and a third one to two small square boxes and a keypad. The control panel has a ADT logo on it.

The wires lead to the telephone socket is not connected to it, neither is the one to the main fuse box. I opened the control panel and there is a small battery inside which has been disconnected.

My question is can I use this?

If I can, can I set this up as a standalone alarm system. I dont really want to pay a subscription to anyone.

Thank you

Please let me know

There's a member on here called galaxyguy who is the expert on all things here to do with galaxy systems , hopefully he will be along to help you

Hi, yes you will be able to reconfigure the system to run stand alone. Also, if you add an A083-00-02 or A083-00-10 Ethernet card (~£100) you can also self monitor via push notifications and have full remote control of the panel when away from home using Honeywell's free GX app.

Hi There,

My apologies for posting a very late message. I didn't want to replicate the thread, so I am using this one again. (alot of things have happened, which put this whole alarm system on the back burner)

I am guessing with the Ethernet Card, I would need to have the router connected to it? (router is upstairs, don't ask previous owner had master socket installed upstairs)

I like the idea of having full control of the system. Could this be done wirelessly? so if it is triggered, I could get a notification on my phone and if I choose to, I can control it via the app?

I don't like the idea of having to run a wire from the control box to the router.

Please free to DM if you want.

Thank you and my apologies again for resurrecting an old thread

One other thing to add is that you need v4.14 Ethernet module, as prior versions have been end of life by Honeywell due to various issues.

Some people using SelfMon plug the Ethernet into a cheap WiFi repeater device for this. I'd advise against WiFi for signaling, but understand that there are some cases where it's required.

This works with remote control app and reporting.

Is there an option to have a a Mobile Sim inserted which can then be configured to send out or even call me or a key holder and give notifications?

I understand the ethernet route. I am familiar with the Vonets wireless bride. I have an older version of thag connected to the cctv dvr.

Is this something which I can do myself? Or do I need a specialist machine of sorts? Are these parts easy for the public to buy to do I have to buy through a engineer.

Also if I wanted to just to set it up to just a standard alarm system which does not call anyone etc is this easy to configure?

In your opinion and experience which would be the option.

The keypad on the system looks like a old green lcd screen keypad, I think it is the G2 keypad from pictures I can find online.

Thank you.

The metal case panel cannot house the GSM module that's required for sending SMS. Only the medium and large plastic cases support mounting the GSM module. You could use a cheap GSM module to tell you that the system has activated, but it will not give detailed information about the activation.

You can of course configure the system as 'bells only' which will not provide any reporting or remote control, but sound sirens for 15 minutes. To do this, you just need to ensure a siren is fitted (some monitored systems have no sounder installed). If you want to go this route, pm me and I'll help with the programming. Likewise, if you need any parts, pm me and I'll advise.

Thank you for this. I have just found out that I only have the user password for the system. The code for the system configuration does not work. I called adt and informed them, they said they would not reset the codes for me. I found them to be really unhelpful.

I could not see a reset pin hole anywhere on the system.

Can this be configured without the technical codes?

I shal DM you aswell.

Thank you for taking your time out to reply to me

All the best

Yes, most alarm companies will want to keep the monthly fees coming in. You can take over your hardware without any interaction from them. I'll await your message.
