Hello All,
I am trying to work out the best was to insulate a pitched garage roof for conversion into a general purpose room.
The roof is currently tialed and felted and made of 5" (130mm) beams.
I am looking as insulating with insulation board (celotex etc)
I understand that I have to leave a 50mm gap between the felt and the insulation so this leaves be 80mm to play with.
My current thinking is to put 50mm celotex between the beams and then cover with 20mm insulated plasterboard (GA450 - 12.5mm plaster and 12.5mm insulation).
The room is 10 foot by 20 so the cost inc. VAT is just shy of £400 at insulationgiant.com with 7 boards of each.
So the obvious questions are 1. Is this enough insulation 2. can I get away with less and 3. am I missing another obvious option?
Any thoughts and advice as greatly appreciated.
