A fire door is required to separate a garage from the house, due to what is likely to be put in a garage and the increased risk of fire. But once a garage is converted to a habitable room, then no fire door is required.
Are fire doors required for any other room in the house? Then why should a fire door be required for this 'new' room?

Sorry mis-read the original post. If it's being converted FROM a garage to a habitable room then it most likely doesn't need a fire door but it's worth a quick phone call to BC.
