Hi,

For a garage conversion, would i need a fire door between this and my existing house? it would be in the hallway. thanks

yes, fire door and frame with intumescent strips set in the frame and an automatic closer on the door.
 
A fire door is required to separate a garage from the house, due to what is likely to be put in a garage and the increased risk of fire. But once a garage is converted to a habitable room, then no fire door is required.

Are fire doors required for any other room in the house? Then why should a fire door be required for this 'new' room?

Sorry mis-read the original post. If it's being converted FROM a garage to a habitable room then it most likely doesn't need a fire door but it's worth a quick phone call to BC.
