helping big bruv with running electrics to his garage....
Q1..running 4mm armoured cable in the ground from garage to house as its armoured regs dont give a depth not that i can see as long as its protected i presume they mean by the fact it armoured...
Q2 when you come from the garden to the garage and the house can you just clip the armoured to the wall on the outside untill it goes through the wall to the consumer unit itself... :

It needs to be deep enough to avoid damage, how you interpret that is up to you. A couple of spade depths down with warning tape close to the surface will probably do.
SWA is suitable for being mounted outdoors yes.
This work is notifiable to your LABC under part p of the building regs.

also depends if there's paving or concrete etc going over, cable should be on a bed of sand, with sand above too, and warning tape, ideally in a straight run with both ends visible so it's obvious where it is or a plan drawn showing where it is, and of course notified etc
