Hello Everyone

First time post so here goes!

I'm in the process of replacing my garage.

THe planning permission says that any electrical work must comply with the new regs (Part P?)

What does this cover please, ie

1) Can I do it myself - the old garage had electricity in it
2) Who certifies it electrician or building people at council

Thanks

Tris

You can do it, but the local authority will need to inspect it, as it goes in, they will tell you when in the process they want a look see, or you could use a sparks who belongs to an approved scheme who can do it uninspected.
Don't let your authority charge you extra for inspecting your electrical work, over their normal building control fee fo ra job of that size - they are not alowed to do so. If they try (and some do beacuse they have no in house electricain and it costs them to hire one) come back here and we can point you at the relavent official documents that say this.
