gas fire

the inside of my gas fire is black with soot any ideas whats causing it also the flame is mainly blue

If the fire is producing large amounts of soot then it would be highly recommended that you contact an RGI immediately.

Do not operate the appliance until it has been fully checked for safe operation. This is not a DIY job!

Sorry i can't be of more help but safety and legality should come first.
 
What fire. If its got artificial coal have you put them back in ,in correct order

And when you first lighting it are you leaving it on high for at least ten minutes as starting on low will cause soot build up (as above refer to manufacturers instructions)
