First noticed when turning on the cooker that the gas pressure was low. Tried gas fire and found it to also be low and the flame was blue. Any ideas?

Would check that the meter control valve is fully open first.

If so then your best bet is to stop using the appliances and isolate the gas supply to the property and call an RGI out to check things over.

if it used to be fine, it is probably either the meter or the incoming pipe; both are property of what most people still call transco.
call 0800 111 999.
they will come out and check if it is safe, and if not, repair free of charge.

If the governor on the inlet to your gas meter has a black plastic cap then the internals have probably fallen apart. As has been said ring the emergency no and they will sort it out.

In the coldest weather at weekends or when people are snowbound I am finding that the street supply just cannot keep up with the demand.

I regularly find a meter output is onmly 15-17 mb at these times.

An odd one was only 15 mB on load at any time and the regulator was replaced about a year ago but the nupty did not bother to check the pressure on load. Or if he checked it he then just left.

thank you all for your advice. Got in touch with transco and they sent someone out. Pressure was lower than should be but main problem was a faulty gas cut-out on the cooker. The low pressure on the gas fire was coincidental to this happening!
