gas smell

moved in a new house recently,got a ideal classic standard gas boiler in garage with a fanned flue, when it first comes on eg heating or hot water is it normal to smell gas outside answers appreciated thanxs

on ignition then yes, there may be a small quantity of unburnt gas. but ONLY on igniton.
 
thanks for reply rob yeh its only when it starts up then goes after a while then when boiler turns on again u can smell it again so yeh it is after ignition

I think there may be a viewing window on the front of your boiler.

You may be able to see a spark which lights a pilot and a second later the main burner lights.

If there is much of a delay at any point unburnt gas will be expelled from the flue.
