No, but there is if he wants his house insurance to remain valid.
Can you refer me to any cases where the insurance has been invalidated by non-Corgi gas work?
I think this is a myth put about by technically inadequate and insecure gas fitters. Can you demonstrate that I am mistaken in this belief?
I assume you think all diyers know about proper tightness tests, have the equipment to do them and know how to interpret the results
No.
I think that you could show the average 14 year old to do a soundness test and understand the permissible pressure loss in 20 minutes. The way to promote gas safety is to make such simple training easily available and to disseminate the knowledge and skill amongst the DIYers and tradesmen who might want it.
It is counterproductive, in safety terms, to restrict access to fundamental gas training to trade gas fitters. The main concern of the gas trade is not with gas safety, it is in safeguarding their incomes.
It gonna explode! £600 to hang a boiler on a wall?
Muppets.
your an idiot, do you think an average 14 should be taught minor surgery ,,do you think an average 14 year old should be taught dentistry, the only reason you have to be trained and qualified to do certain work is so idiots like you don't kill people and get away with it,,

One of us is an idiot.
Since I understand simple punctuation and know where to use "your" or "you're", the evidence suggests that it isn't me.
So now you're comparing simple gas work with minor surgery and dentistry? The levels of skill involved are a slightly different.
I think 14 year olds could be taught first aid; some of that is about keeping fluids in pipes, too.
Enough.
if all you can find fault with is punctuation then being classed as an idiot by someone like you who obviously knows nothing about gas safety is not going to make me lose any sleep.
there is no need go too go off the deep end and have a go at all around. is your argument really that petty that you use someones punctuation as a mode of attack?
onetap, you really are a complete dip s**t
if this guy thinks he has a gas leak he should phone transco on 0800 111 999 and should turn off his gas till they come and check.
i am a RGI and i don't agree.
it is not that diyer cant do it, it is that RGI have proven they can, safely!!! gas can be unsafe when miss handled, it is not that it is going to do explode any minute but need to be treated with respect.
CORGI is simply a register of competent people, they cant bar people from training, in fact corgi would love to have loads of RGI so they could sell them more carp and get them to sign up to more "schemes" to leach more money from us.
as for that gas explosion i don't have any details so cant comment really

Have you never heard the saying ' A little knowledge is a dangerous thing'The way to promote gas safety is to make such simple training easily available and to disseminate the knowledge and skill amongst the DIYers and tradesmen who might want it.
Better than no knowledge at all.Have you never heard the saying ' A little knowledge is a dangerous thing'
