Gas Valve obsolete

We've got a Gloworm Spacesaver 30-40RF; the plumber tells me that the fault is the gas valve (part no 419069. Can't get a replacement. I understand that it is the solenoid that needs replacing and have managed to source one. Plumber tells me that he is not comfrtable in replacing the solenoid. Is it legal to take replace the solenoid.

Any advice really appreciated.

Perfectly ok to fit a solenoid if that is all thats req ,thats why they supply them as spares .
Can you put a picture of the gas valve up at all .
