I am just about to re gloss the wood work in my house,

Room by room

What the best approach to do this

I was thinking just a rough sandpaper, then finer grade and then gloss with a good brush.

Any pointers would be gratefully received

Thanks

Dont use a rough sandpaper. You dont wanna scratch any of the existing gloss off.You just wanna lightly abrade it to take any nibs off and give your surface a key for your next coat........which really should be a undercoat.

I would say it obviously had loads of coats over the years.

Some good, some not so good so its all uneven and is not nice to look at not for me anyway.

So i want to take of as much paint as possible.

Also is one white gloss better than another, should i water down .

if you want to take the paint off use a hot air gun and scraper.......lead paint in pre 1960`s ....blah blah.....then start from scratch like new wood . finish with a trade WHITE not Brilliant White.....gloss and use a Purdy (man-made bristle) brush....works for me ;)not burned down any houses....yet
