We have had problems with ignition. various gas techs have been called in and have appeared to fix the problem or have gone away to refer to glow worm for advice never to return to us. Latest gas man has decided it could be a blocked jet, tiny apparently, smaller than a pin head. Also, the ignition wire was broken although, a spark is clearly visible and intermittently the boiler will light and run, however, when it cuts out it will often take a long time before it will finally ignite. It is an intermittent problem but last night, coldest night of the year, it failed to light or stay a alight at all.
We are now considering a new boiler, we are currently waiting for the gas man to bring round new jet and ignition wire thing, please note accurate technical terminology. Last ditch in desperation as my husband is not convinced that a blocked jet could cause this problem intermittently and he has lost all faith in 'gas men'.
To clarify, ignition sequence will often run for a minimum of 10 15 mins before ignition is achieved and less often, 3 sparks and it will light. Any advice would be most gratefully accepted
