glow worm compact 80p

i had a glowworm compact 80p combi fitted 2 years ago,
recently i turned the heating on and after a while i hear a
clicking noise, the heating is going on and off, sometimes
it does it really fast like its shorting or something.
the pilot stays on then after a while the boiler fires up again

if i leave it alone it usualy settles down but sometimes
i wack it, seems to help a little

i changed a radiator last year i think i may have got some
sand and crap in the system when i ran some pipes under
floor boards, never thought about that when i was fitting the rad,
it was only when i went to nip up the nuts on the rad then i hear it sounded a bit gritty, not long after that i had to replace the auto air vent.

so have i knackered it ?

Wouldn't have done it much good I wouldn't think.
Why not add a system cleanser and flush out.

sticky solenoid on the gas valve

yes i read somewhere that it might be the solenoid but what does it look like?
i know some don't like the idea of doing your self but i have to live live by my means.

its a big red thing press the button under the black cap at the back of the boiler
usually at the top

should sort it

follow the pipework till you come to a large lump of ally thats the gas valve
