GLS Lamps

I've just been reading on this forum about GLS lamps being phased out, what does this mean, that we'll be using energy saving lamps in all our light fittings? I'm just very curious to know that's all.

They are being phased out over years, I believe 150watt have already gone (rarely seen anyway).

The 100watt is next.....

However, halogen is classed as 'energy saving' due to the more light per watt, and osram are using this to release standard looking GLS lamps in a halogen guise.....

Tried one of those.

Horrible.

I wanted it for a wall light (quarter-spherical frosted glass, open at the top, lamp mounted horizontally) and the shadows and bright/dim ray pattern looked dreadful.
