Good reliable Traders

I am after a painter and decorator to do some work on my house in Wolverhampton but I dont want to just keep ringing around in the yellow pages to try and find a good trader.

I can find lots of information on rouge traders but is there a website/list somewhere that has all the good traders?

Have a search around, I'd avoid checkatrade though, every quote I've had from guys on there has been astronomical, gumtree is worth a look.
Search for decorator or handyman in your area, I live in London and have found great guys for a flat £100 a day or £15ish an hour.
I've never had problems but always check some examples of work first, some guys on there post up loads of pictures or videos to look at.
