Since the winter I have been slowly digging up a lawn and replacing it with mulched soil with shrubs in. Now it's the summer I have found a large population of brown grasshoppers on the remaining patch of grass (about 6 sq metres). I don't want to kill them by taking their habitat away (none of the neighbouring gardens have lawn).

Anybody know how/where they over winter? I am wondernuig if I can 'transplant' them to the back garden later in the year, where there is plenty loads of long grass.

Ideas?

Thanks
