Mrs Pred wants to grow some lavender, we have an abundance of it in one place but would like to "bring it on" somewhere else.

So can we simply take cuttings? Young shoots? Rooting compound?

I posted it here as there was not much else being talked about at present and thought we could all do with a break from the McCanns.

Have you lavender in your garden? Have you noticed how the bees swarm all over it, like flies to 5hit

The mrs used rooting gel or compound for the same, kept the lavender watered in the garage for a couple of months then planted it last year, looks good, smells good.

We also did this with a large conifer this year which was badly placed by the previous owner, blocking sun and making the garden feel smaller. Cut it all down and some cuttings are in the garage now with the root gel. Will use it to make a live fence as a boundary. Potted conifers are about 3 quid each so it saves a few quid.

Id recomend Oregano as well and Chives, been able to dig some out with roots from the in laws garden to our old garden years ago, then still transplant it to the new garden. They are both rugged and crack on well after being moved.
