Gripfill removal

I’ve acquired some steel sheets that were glued onto a wooden box.
As the edges were covered with angle, the sheet was only lightly fixed with what was probably gripfill or similar.

it’s hard, grey and still in slightly squished strips.

I have heat guns, a torch, paint strippers inc nasty ones, and acetone to hand.
Any ideas?

Sticky stuff remover will turn it brittle and you can scrape it off easier.

WD-40 does similar but it's much slower.

A wallpaper scraper, just used cold? I've found grip fill will come off fairly easily when you get under it. Once the end has lifted you can usually just pull a good length of it off.
