I need to run some rad pipes for a new extension, is there any disadvantage from taking the pipes from the 1st floor to feed the ground floor rads, I could take them from the ground floor but would be a bit of hassle.

any thoughts?

Thanks

That would work ok, My need to balance after.

Should be OK if:

1. You can tap into the upstairs 22mm flow and return. If you can only get to 15mm pipework you may not have enough heat transmission capacity.
2. You provide drain off points to the flow and return to each radiator, otherwise you'll find it very difficult if you need to drain the whole system.
3. As already stated by easyflow, you may well need to re-balance afterwards.
