Does anyone know the best way to find someone who will carry out minor groundworks?

I live in a 1950s house that used to have a ground floor WC. There's now just an empty room, with a solid concrete floor. I want to re-establish the drainage out to the front garden so I can have a cloakroom back again.

No plumber wants to know - I apparently need a groundworks specialist. But they all seem to work for developers on big plots, rather than this sort of piecework.

There must be loads of people out there who have put in ground floor cloakrooms. What did you do? And is there any way of finding a reliable groundworks company?

I live near Ascot in Berkshire.

Thanks for any help or guidance you can give.

The drainage will probably just be capped off and concreted over.

Joe-90 is right, it is probably still there somewhere.
Work out roughly where you think it comes into the room and have a dig around OUTSIDE at the wall line to try to find it.
You may also find if you inspect the concrete that there is a scar or change in texture / colour where a stack was filled in inside the room.
Once you've located it you really ought to disc saw the floor out to get through the concrete and make your connection.
You'll need to make a fairly big hole though to get into to reinstate the drain so don't make the cut 8" square!
If you don't want to break up the concrete internally you could put an elbow up from the drain you hopefully found when digging outside the house and come in through the wall straight into your new U-bend.
Get your spade out!
