Hi

We have a loft extension done 15 - 20 years ago - we had the high gutter cleaned recently because we noticed grass growing up there - they were full of gravel from the roof? Should we get the roof checked out - we have no sign of leaks yet and it is very high up so we may have to pay for scaffolding to get it checked?

Any advice appreciated

Probably a bituminous felt roof finished in white spar. The stone serves to protect the felt from deterioration, and also reduces the tendency for fire-spread.

Felt roofs are generally good for 10 -15 years at most; probably time to get it re-done with a more modern finish.
