Hello, hope someone can help us with our boiler problem.
It all started a few months ago when our hot water kept running hot and cold as the burner kept going on and off. The water pressure kept fluctuating and the overflow pipe outside was dripping alot. We had the pressure release valve and the diverter diaphram replaced, which seemed to solve the problem for a month or so.
The central heating works fine but now whenever we try to use the hot water the pressure shoots up to 4, then jets of hot water and steam shoot out of overflow pipe outside, then the water pressure will drop quickly to zero and the boiler locks out.
As well as all this the over flow pipe is dripping water constantly, even when the boiler is of altogether, sometimes it runs like a slow tap, this is so bad that we now have green algae growing on the patio!!
We have been advised it may be that the plate to plate heat exchanger needs replacing, but these are rather expensive so we want to be sure that this will work before we spend too much money.
Can anyone out there advise us what to do for the best?
