I want to add a second hanging rail to an existing 'flat-pack' wardrobe, which has a series of holes down each side.

Are the brackets with metal dowels a standard size .. it seems the hole spacing is about 32mm

thanks

I don't think it matters much.

I recently changed mine from the original round to a better oval rail. For one of the screws I used an original hole, and then ran the drill in for the second hole. I certainly didn't bother measuring the spacing. You can use a Euro screw which has a wide diameter and a coarse thread but no real point.

Incidentally, I also set the new rails a little further back. It means coats have to hang on a slight diagonal, it prevents them projecting against the doors. These wardrobes are only 500mm deep, you probably won't need if if yours are 600mm.
