I've bought some hardboard to protect a brickweave drive, I'm clearing the garden and will pile the earth onto the boards until it is taken by a grab lorry.

I'd like to re-use the boards but I guess they will be well knackered after this.

If I prime the edges will it prolong their life, or is there something else I can do it protect/harden them?

Many thanks.

When I was told to buy hardwood, for some reason I pictured chipboard in my head, which is the big heavy stuff

I realise now that hardwood will be knackered after I've finished putting soil onto it.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
