Have I a Ridge Board or a Ridge Beam?

The photo shows the roof space above my bathroom extension, which is a 15 degree pitched roof, with a standard ceiling. The span of the roof is approx 8ft. I am assuming the horizontal timber at the apex is a ridge board. However the fact that it is rather large makes me wonder if it is in fact a ridge beam, in which case my plan to core drill below it for an extractor fan outlet will need to be re thought. Does anyone know if a ridge beam would be used in such a small span?

Ideally I would fit a vent tile but I am struggling to find one that matches the type of tile, and is suitable for such a low pitch.

Are there ceiling joists running through from plate to plate?

I'd have to double check, but I'm pretty sure the ceiling joists sit on the wall plates. This is the best photo I've got at the moment

They're Stonewolds.

Useless photo, though the splice suggest something pre-manufactured.

There are plenty of vent tiles to suit Stonewolds . But , the stonewolds are laid below minimum pitch from memory.
The lowest pitch vent tiles I remember is 17.5.

Why not go for a lead slate , pipe and mushroom cowl ?

I'd not thought of that. It will be a bit more expensive, but neater than a vent in the gable end.
