Hi, first post and needing help. Was reccomended this place by someone who posts on here.

Came home tonight after having to go rescue the wife as her car had broken down, only to discover Central Heating Display Pannel is blank. I'm assuming it's that which has gone? I can't even see how it is mounted to the wall, but assume it is a slide on over screws? Are these hard to replce ie, do they have standard wiring? Assuming it is that of course :D

1) baxie burmuda 401 boiler ACL lifestyle LP522 controller with honeywell thermostat. GAS

2) Boiler control pannel has blank screen and will not switch heating on (advance)

3) Absolutly nothing done at all

4) Came in and it was dead, this evening

5) Happens constantly, ie nothing happening

6) Have checked all the house fuses and they're fine.

Thanks for any help. I promise to help in the car area after this as I know about them.

checked the fuse specifically for the central heating?

checked all the house fuses, would there be a separate one elsewhere? theres nothing next to the heating control panel

its supposed to have its own means of isolation after the consumer unit fuse its wired into. it may not depending when and who fitted it.

do you have a multimeter? if so the programmer can be removed by unscrewing the two screws slightly and hingeing the unit up the way, be careful in case theres still power to it. then test for 240 across live and neutral....clearly marked on the back of the unit.

found fuse around other side of wall from control panel, changed it and its working again! thanks for the advice dude. Have a great night

mysteries of the unexplained dave. ;)

i had one of those last week

i was just about to disconnect the pump when i realised i hadnt even tried a new fuse in first. fired up straight away and she hasnt phoned me back so it must be ok.

But why did the fuse blow in the first place

That did cross my mind and if it'd been the car I would've known where to look. I'll put it down to old age or a power surge or something I don't understand and generaly burry my head in the sand.

This has got the wife saying those words all men fear "I think it's time we got a new one, that one is old now" which the heating system is, so I'll bet we'll have a new system soon.

Thanks for your concern though :D

she may be on to something, i bet your ventilation is wrong.

Ok yeah, fuses don't really wear out but, I didn't want to face it.#

Tonight it blew again, new fuse went in and it came on, I advanced it, it blew again.

I've had a sh*t day (have had the wife in hospital, car broke down, etc) and didn't/couldn't deal with engineers, etc. So I turned the thremostat down, changed the fuse again and the display came on again. I then advance it and all was still well. I then turned the thermostat up and it's working again.

I suspect it must be the control pannel having a problem with coming on and having to switch the boiler on too ? Any advice ?I can change the control pannel myself I'd think but, can't see how it's mounted ? Also any tips or advice o nthe wiring ??

Thanks :D
