hi all,

wasn't 100% where to put this.. if it's better suited to electrics can a mod please move it? thanks

i live in a new(ish) build that has no gas, and is instead all electric. my heating is electric and although quite efficient, the central timer controls failed a little while back so now i have to switch it on/off manually on each thermostat (per room) meaning it can be cold for a long time while it picks up..

i am to just get an electrician in to fix / overhaul the system, but was wondering what recommendations for products people had with regards to a central 'timer' unit, and thermostats which currently seem very inaccurate, i typically have to turn them up to 30c to get the room temperature somewhere decent. i have checked this with a standalone thermometer in the same room

so what i really want is:

* new central timer unit
* 'better' thermostats room by room
* remote control if possible.. i.e. turn heating on when on my way home.

can anyone recommend some products or areas for me to do some research in? i'm just starting out on this journey and i want to get an idea of what is possible, how much it will cost etc, before engaging a trades-person

many thanks

chris

room by room heating isn't really what gas central heating is for...an average boiler is say 15 kws, the average radiatos 800ws...

pumps get stressed, boilers over heat and if the engineer designs that out with a by pass you just move your efficiency gains to an inefficient boiler system

depending on the boiler a propriatary weather compensation system will give the best saving, or some zoning, with a correspondingly smaller boiler....
