I recently had a new pcb board fitted on my baxi solo 3 30 pf and a new air pressure switch and now the heating won't come on unless the water is on. Also the water takes about 10 minutes to turn on. The pcb board is fitted correctly but i'm not so sure about the air pressure switch. Before i had the boiler repaired both water and heating fired up straight away. Please help.

The Baxi Solo 3 is a heat only boiler. That means that its sole purpose in life is to discharge a supply of heated water from its flow pipe and that's it.

The water it heats is then distributed via the pipework to the radiators and your hot water cylinder, utilising a pump and other accessories such as motorised valves and associated external controls etc.,

If the boiler is heating water, it's doing its job. The purpose of the pressure switch is to detect that the fan is running before allowing the burner to light. If the burner lights the APS is working. So, if the aforementioned hot water is reaching the hot water cylinder, but not the radiators, the fault will more likely relate to part of the distribution system, or the system wiring.

I understand that but it worked perfectly brefore the gas engineer installed the new parts, it must be something that he has done.

Before you had boiler fixed both heating and hot water worked?????

So why did it need repairing then??????? confused

Did the engineer have it working properly before he left as he should have ensured it was fully tested?

If so then doubt it was something he did. Give him a shout and give him the opportunity to come back and take a look. Any decent engineer should be happy to run out and confirm their work if there is an issue.

I recently had a new circuit board and air pressure switch installed on my baxi solo 3 boiler. Now the boiler turns on and shortly afterwards the fan comes on. However it can be anything from 10 to 40 minutes before the pilot Fires up the boiler. Any ideas?
We had it fixed because the boiler was constantly switching on and off every few seconds which blew the circuit board but before that it always fired up straight away.
