Help/advise needed re:gas boiler problem

My gas boiler fires up when switched on via the programmer and runs for about 4 minutes before shutting down. None of the radiators get warmed up at all. It will fire up on its own from time to time but keeps shutting down after a couple of minutes.

Any ideas?

Sorry Im a total novice so not sure what info you need. Can you advise on what you mean by basic description?
