Help, got 6.2kw hot plate hob plus a separate 5.5kw oven each needs its own seprate power supply, the CU(45amp)wall switch has a 10mm T&E cable running from it to an 45amp outlet(connection unit)...Too the 45amp oulet connection unit, i have connected 6mm T&E which is from the oven...Which works fine.In the mean time i have left the hob disconected and told the mrs's use the microwave...

Can i connect the hob to this connection unit also...if so what size cable can used

if this is not possible....could u please advise...

ie ring main 30 amp junction box to 13amp switched fused connection unit - 20 amp flex outlet plate???? then to hob??

if the cable supplying the cooker control unit (switch) is 10mm², then you can use another 6mm² on the load side to feed the hob.

And how would you suggest you stop the 13A fuse blowing, were you to connect this hob to a 13A plug or 13A FCU?

Clue: a rusty steel nail is the wrong answer) ;)
