Help!! Mechanical Timer & Ignition problem.

Hi all, Can anyone please inform me if a mechanical timer is easy to replace on a worchester 24i boiler.Also no ignition when boiler is turned on unless the hot tap is turned on at the same time I can then turn the tap off and the gas will stay on heating the boiler. Any help would very much be appreciated many thanks in advance. Paul.
