Hi

problem replacing double light switch,
i have a hall and landing light and they are operated by a double switch upstairs and 2 singles downstairs, both being able to control either upstairs or down.

i want to change the switch for a new one which i brought, the one i purchased was a 16 amp 2 way switch, firstly is this the right one????

Now on to the problem!!

Currently the wiring is as follows.

Left to Right top row
L1 = Blue, L2 = Yellow, Com = Red

Left to Right bottom row
L1=Red, L2 = Blue + (Black feed), Com = Yellow + (Red Feed)

New light switch config is

Left to Right top row.
1Way, Com, Com, 1Way

Left to Right Bottom,
2Way, 2Way

how do i wire it in? i have tried many different ways and it just doesn't work, aaaaahhhhhhhhhh

thanks in advance for you help :eek:

Basically your new switch has a slightly different configuration of terminals to your old one. All you have to do is work out which set of three terminals is which in regards to each switch and then transpose the old connections to the new terminals, Just take L1 as 1 Way and L2 as 2 way and this should work. If you are getting strange results swap the L1 and L2 over as your old switches may be wired inside differently.
