Help with a study question on fuses

but I have to say that I can't recall ever having experienced an MCB tripping at switch-on,
I have seen a large office where there was a single wall switch for several lamps but the lamps were actually switched by contactors to stagger the switch on as the inrush current (when they all switched on together) was more than enough to trip the breaker.
I was needless to say, talking about my experiences with domestic installations, but what you say doesn't surprise me, particularly if (as seems likely in an office) we are talking about multiple fluorescents.

Kind Regards, John.

It is not only flourescents, 230 volt halogen spots are a problem taking out a 6 amp MCB if they are all on at the wall when power comes back after a power cut.

( Another reason to not used them )
