Hi everyone,

I have just fitted an ABV to my heating system to replace an old manual gate valve, but when I contacted the boiler manufacturer, Trianco, to ask what the minimum flow requirement for the boiler is, they told me that they could not find this information.

So I wanted to ask you experts if there is a default minimum flow value that I should use to setup the ABV? I now have an s-plan setup so in theory the ABV should never be needed.

Why would an ABV not be needed on an s plan system it is always needed on an S plan you normally get away without one on a Y plan I think you are getting mixed up

Going by the name "Trianco" unless it is a surviving Triancogas (which I would very much doubt).
My guess is an oil fired boiler that does not need one.

HI, sorry for the slow response. It is a Trianco Eurotrader 90 oil fired boiler. I was told that building regs now demanded an ABV.

I do have TRVs all round, but plan to remove the one in the room with the thermostat.

Building regs have nothing to do with it. A bypas is required if the manufacturer of the boiler says so. Read the man instructions. A minimum flow rate through the boiler must be maintained. I haven't read the instructions, and if you don't have them, then google them. You may find that having one non trv rad will be OK.

Building regs do have something to do with it in that they say that a bypass (where required) must be automatic - just using a gate valve is no good.

Ok I stand corrected. Can you help the OP with his problem?

If you actually bothered to read the original post, you'd see that he's already been in touch with the manufacturer who say they don't have minimum flow rate data. So I fail to see how you telling him to read the manual is helping him with his problem.

Ok Slip, I certainly don't want to get involved in a key board war of words. I'll retreat and let you guide him with his problem.
